Adding a Badge to Your Blog

Old Mining Town

I don’t know about you, but lately I have been joining various sites for a number of reasons. Recently I joined a site that provided a badge, but the image code the site generated for the badge would not download properly for either of my blogs. I had to figure it out and here’s what I discovered.

If you want to add a clickable badge or photo or button there’s a couple of ways to do it.

  • First you need to have an account with Photobucket.com or other photo sharing site to generate a picture ‘code’
  • Second you must have a ‘snipping tool’ option available on your computer
  • Third you need an adventurous and ‘can do’ attitude

Adding a badge, button or picture to Blogger:

  1. With a ‘snipping tool’ make a screen shot of your badge then save it in a file
  2. Open YOUR page from the site you want to link to the badge
  3. On your blog add a PICTURE gadget
  4. Download the screen shot of your badge from the file in which you saved it
  5. Be sure to add the URL address for YOUR badge page and save

Adding a badge, button or picture to a WordPress.com blog:

  • Upload the screen shot of your badge to Photobucket to get a picture code
  • Go to your WordPress blog and grab an IMAGE widget
  • Copy/Paste the DIRECT LINK code into the Image URL space and copy/paste your badge page URL address into the space for URL link when clicking on image.

This will do it. See mine here

  3. couldn’t you write this one week before? :P i figured it out, there are lots of different ways to make it and many bloggers that try to explain it actually don’t know, what they’re doing.
