What is the most important thing you have learned about selling online in these last two years?

In one word… Photographs! Perfect your photos… and then perfect them again. I can’t stress enough the importance of great photos. Have a look at the successful shops on Etsy. One thing they all have in common, is great photos. Online selling is a visual avenue… your customers can’t touch your product, they can’t pick it up, smell it or feel it’s weight in their hands.

Annette Tait is the creator of Dragon House of Yuen, where you can find her soft sculptures, watercolors and delightful stories about the creatures she creates. Annette has lived in Zambia and Australia and now resides in Edinburgh, Scotland.

I am most proud of when I was contacted by a publishing representative to have my artwork included in their line of stationery. That was when I officially considered my work to be ‘professional’.

I was able to interview Matt Hinrichs, the artist behind the adorable LitKids Etsy shop. Here you will find adorable screen prints on old antique book pages that are simply lovely and a piece of Nostalgic History!

One of the things that I think is great about nerd JERK is that she stays very active with the Etsy community and the greater tech/ craft communities in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Joanne Waring of JoArtyJo on Etsy is an artist from the United Kingdom. Her shop includes color-your-own pages, original artwork and bookmarks! She’s also a member of the Handmadeology Etsy Team. She fought long and hard to get to 100 sales. She’s now seeing business pickup, and feeling more confident about her shop and her products. Hear her Etsy story here.

Meet Roselle of Etsy shop Seaside Rose Creations and how she found her niche! Her shop transformed into perfection when she mixed her painting skills with shabby decor and collectibles.

Get to know Amy of Funamals. This is a tale of painting at an early age, and her love for animals helped her achieve doing what she loves to do! She makes custom pet portraits, and fun animal watercolor paintings. Her work appears on other items such as necklaces, greeting cards, and water bottles!

Phil’s art is custom woodworking out of his shop, close to Metamora, Illinois (which is ironically in Woodford County.) He was formerly trained in avionics (aviation electronics) while serving in the Marine Corps.

I’ve been admiring Beth’s work at Hint on Etsy for several months now. Her talent and good intentions seem to shine in each of her handmade charms. She writes an intriguing blog titled hint jewelry, where it becomes obvious that she takes great care and pride in everything that she does.

The following interview is serendipitously related to two topics of great interest to me personally: literature and art.
