There is no better way to get inspired to make an awesome fan page then by checking out other cool designs.
Here are some examples from the handmade/ design world… enjoy!
1. On the Handmadeology fan page we are featuring new fans each week. You can get your Etsy items featured by clicking the cover photo, liking and sharing the photo, and leaving your Etsy shop link. This helps stimulate fan interaction and greatly increases our reach on Facebook.
2. A little biased here as this is my wife’s fan page! You can see she integrates her logo along with her slogan and samples of her work.
3. Great design here. Shows off designs and lets the fan know what their shop is selling.
4. Eye catching for sure! A close up shot peaks the interest and makes me want to find out more.
5. Love this product display!
6. No text, but simple eye catching photos!
7. Adding a photo from your last craft show, is a great way to show your fans what is happening offline.
8. Get seasonal with your cover photo.
9. Great mix of photos and info.
When you are designing your timeline cover, profile pic and even your custom app pics, it can be a pain and time consuming. With this Photoshop template now you can drag your images and test them out in Photoshop first.

About The Author

Thank you for this post! It is very helpful and well organized. Plus, has some great inspiration ideas.
An excellent and useful post – thank you! I’ve linked to this from my new blog, Handmade Harbour.
thank you once again! I’ve downloaded the template and look forward to playing with it.
Sure thing Heather… have fun getting creative!
Thank you so much, I needed this information but haven’t had time to go look for it!! I wish I had Photoshop so I could use the download you shared.
Fantastic info! thanks much
Great post.
(Hangs head in shame) I still don’t even have a Facebook set up. I have a (lame) page for myself but I have not had any luck in creating a SEPARATE FB page for Crafty Dad.
I guess I need to find a tutorial on how to do it. Every time I attempt to create a page, it seems to be connected to my personal page. And I really don’t want that.
If anyone has ideas or suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks!
That should not be happening Mike. Not sure what is happening there.
Tim – I agree! I will have to do some more experimenting. I’m sure it’s something I’m doing wrong.
It only looks like it will be linked to your personal page. But when you are all done setting it up. It won’t be. If you indeed clicked on the Create a Page link. It is just required to be linked to an actual person. Once it’s all done – you will have the option to be on facebook as yourself or as the page you created – same log in for both – just different accounts you can switch back and forth between.
Great info! I read Handmadeology every day – and imagine my surprise and delight when I saw my own Facebook banner in your article today! What a geat start to my day. Thanks for the shout-out Handmadeology! And for helping us all do better in business
))
You are welcome Anne!
thank you! this couldn’t have came at a better time
i just re-designed my etsy banner & website header and i was just searching for this info last night.
Really helpful since I just changed over. I read that the cover photos shouldn’t be ‘advertorial’ though. Don’t some of these ‘banners’ with names and product details – which look great – push the boundaries too much?
They are in line with the boundaries.. You have to show what your business is about. Facebook wants you to use pictures and text… they just don;t want to see all text. No “click here” kind of thing.
Thanks. All a little clearer now.
I wish I had read this before I changed to time line, It would have saved me a lot of time!! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jessicouture/221349667737
I have to agree with Handmade in Israel … the banners are NOT supposed to be advertising with words & these do push those boundaries a bit much. Other than that tho, this is fantastic info!
Here are the guidelines FB provieds :
Can not include:
Price or purchase information such as “40% off” or “Download it at our website”
Contact information such as web address, email, mailing address or other information intended for your Page’s About Section
References to user interface elements, such as Like or Share, or any other Facebook site features
Calls to Action, such as “Get it now” or “Tell your friends”
You are allowed to have words they just have to follow the above guidelines
Yep. Other than the one that has a web address in the cover photo, all are within the rules!
Great tips!
Thanks for the template! I need to get going with the new timeline
Decided I’m going to change my larger photo based on the season, holiday, etc. since landing pages are going away I want to catch eyes and try to keep fresh looking.
So, Easter… Big Robot Easter.

Keep being awesome.
Nice!! Bold and eye catching!
I would LOVE to know how to add the My Etsy tab to the new setup… Mine disappeared when I changed to the new timeline! And every tut I find it for the OLD setup!
The my etsy app has been taken down by etsy. It is no longer available
There is a new app called EtsyPromo, http://facebook.com/etsypromo/
This app allows you to upload your shop in a seperate tab. If the link above doesn’t work, then you can find a link ‘want this for your page’ at the buttom of my shop page.

you always come to the rescue!
I’m a little confused as to how I can use this template. I downloaded it and got my Photoshop up and running but what am I supposed to do with it. I just looks like a still shot of a bank facebook page. Thank you
drag your cover photo you design in the cover photo slot.. and same with the profile pic.
What a huge help! After much calculation, gnashing of teeth, and several unsuccessful attempts at a product collage, I discovered this post. So wish I had thought to check here sooner… So happy I finally did! I will be sharing!

Great template. Thank you so much for the tutorial.
Thanks for sharing Tim. i just threw something up to get by until a get sec to take some time to get it right. LOL Will definitely be referring to your dimensions.
Andrew
Thanks for the template – so helpful to have it set out like that.
I’m sure you realize how insanely useful just the first 1/4 of this post is.
Why, just after the timeline turned itself on I was muttering to myself about the dimensions we’ll have to start working with. And how they are never posted where you need them.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for this valuable post!
Thanks so much for the great help in customizing the Timeline!
Thank you soooo much for this, I find all this FB stuff so confusing and feel so out of the loop sometimes, but I’m working on it. One question though….any ideas why I can’t seem to change my cover photo, I’m trying to upload an image the exact dimentions as the one I have but it keeps saying it ‘must be at leaset 399 pixels wide’….getting frustrated because it is the correct size!!
THANK YOU! Your examples and dimensions gave me the courage to redesign my Facebook cover photo, and I couldn’t be happier! https://www.facebook.com/RokkiHandbags
I find pin and featured posts using start to be the most valuable features of the new timeline view. Features posts work really well for images. I have used it to create full width banners and drive conversions.
Thank you for your valuable information.
I will use this information to further my fan page on facebook.
Thank you again.
I need it!I really appreciate your help, it is very useful for me, you will get good grades!
Excellent post. Thanks.
