Glossi: A Creative Way to Promote Your Business

Sometimes you want something for your creative business that creates a splash. Something beyond a newsletter or blog post that really brings in new traffic and you can excitedly share on your social media channels and that your fans will share with their friends. I would like to introduce you to Glossi.com.  This is a free online program that you can use to create catalogs, look books, gift guides or e-magazines to promote your products.

For my business, Humblebeads Jewelry, we put together a mini-magazine that we publish several times a year featuring jewelry, gift ideas, quotes and inspiration for nature lovers. We include content that would appeal to my target market and offer creative ways to share my jewelry, including photos on models and styled outfits.

Glossi is super easy to use, just grab the links from your shop or website and pick what photos you’d like to upload.  The program automatically includes the link back to your item.  Or you can upload photos directly to the site. They have templates that make designing a snap.  There are also fun backgrounds and other features to spice up your publication.  Glossi has helpful tutorials on the site to help you get started.  Another bonus: you can download code to embed your publication directly onto your blog or include it in your newsletter.

My advice with Glossi – bigger photos, more quotes and less wordy text seem to provide the best results.

Be a team player and pair up with other artisans to create a seasonal gift guide.   Or if you feature a gift guide using other artist’s work, get their permission first and then send them the link when you publish your guide. This would be a great project for an Etsy team.  Get creative and think outside the box to create a publication that will help you promote your business.

  1. Thanks for sharing. I will definitely share this with my customers because they are all in the business of selling jewelry. I am on Glossi’s website now.

  2. Great content! Back to Glossi I go… your catalogue looks so great!

  3. This is just what I’ve been looking for for BecraftyStamps! Thank you!

  4. Looks good. HOw does it compare with Issuu?

    • Hi Debra,
Glossi has software that let’s you design your publication on the website. It has templates and graphics you can use, along with uploading your own. You can’t download or print Glossi – Issue you can. Issuu you upload already designed PDF pages, Glossi you design right on the site. Glossi is purely an e-publication and a little more user friendly.

  5. This is so cool! I checked out Glossi’s website and your Autumn 2013 catalog and this looks really nice. I sell jewelry, and I love the idea of either doing this myself or teaming up with other crafters and sending out a link to the catalog. This might be a good way to advertise an upcoming local show or something similar. Thanks for sharing :)

  6. Thanks for sharing this information. What a lovely zine you have! I’m on my way over to Glossi now. Thanks again! Ganell
