Good Changes to Etsy Shop Announcements

Since the new look of the shops on Etsy launched, there have been sellers unhappy with some of the changes. One major change was the look of the shop announcement. Etsy has just made to improvements to the new shop announcement .
First the word “announcement” has been removed. Below you can see where the word used to be!
The second change to the announcement, is line breaks are now taken into consideration. Which means you can now hit enter and create spaces between lines. This adds a little more customization to the shop announcements.
Notice in the above shot you can see that me announcement is only one clean line, but there is more info when you hit the read more link.

I like the new shop announcement. It’s much a much cleaner look and invites the browser to read on. When Etsy changed the format of the announcement, I changed the way my announcement read so that it would present the most important information first. Also I concentrated on writing my shop announcement in better SEO terminology so that my potential customers would see relevant information at the top, and enticing them to click on the more button to read about my shop.

I think etsy probably know what they are doing. It’s just a case of the first few words being eye catching enough to make someone click more. I think it’s getting way too hard double guessing what the heck it is that makes people click. Just a little more thought I suppose.

Looks cleaner, but I never did object to the word”Announcement”
Just hoping the brevity of the first line doesn’t fail to grab people to read on!!! We all know how difficult it is to hold someones’ attention!! Could be a shot in the foot too!

It’s about time. I can’t believe these things weren’t taken into account when they first changed it. Not sure how it could ever be considered an afterthought, but I’m glad they finally got around to it.
Now if we could just get them to put some space between the box and the banner, and then make the announcement box the same length as the banner. I hate that the gray touches the banner and its not the same length across.
