  1. I love hearing this, I’ve seen the trend growing and the sales in shops that sell primarily vintage items are very strong. The upcycle movement is the best thing that could ever happen for artisans, consumers and the planet!

  2. It would be cool to see “vintage home decor” show up in the top searches. Whenever I’ve done searches regarding vintage items clothing seems to be at the top of the list. But I’m just beginning my SEO education!

  3. I recently met John Wind of Maximal Art jewelry (who designs for the Oprah line now) at his trunk show and can positively see a growing trend in “vintage/modern jewelry”. It could be interesting to see google search results for “vintage jewelry” because I have opened a “supply” shop for vintage jewelry at cre8evehot.etsy.com for jewelry makers to find those vintage pieces to use in their artistic mix.

    • Hi abcfotos,

Love both of your Etsy shops! I happen to be the PR and Social Media Manager for John Wind, and as much fun as that sounds he is not designing for an Oprah line…. his jewelry has been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine though. Please join the lively conversation on our facebook page – John Wind – Maximal Art.

      Thanks and love Handmadeology!

  4. Thank you … most of my mosaics use vintage “ingredients” and I never thought of
“american vintage” as a key word…. hoping to incorporate these ideas to drive views and sales….

  6. Have always loved Vintage and Antique. What fun to FIND a great piece or a broken antique necklace to use in a jewelry design. So happy this is a growing trend.

  8. Ohh, this is so helpful! I sell vintage clothing and home decor, so its definitely good to know how people are searching. For instance, in my shop blurb it says vintage apparel – I should definitely change that to vintage clothing since that’s what people are searching!!

  9. Since the name of my company and shop is Sylvana Vintage Designs (I make vintage style jewelry) I am thrilled to hear this. I suspected this was true based on what I’m seeing in magazines, on TV and online. Very useful information. Thank you. My shop goes live this weekend and I will be making a few adjustments based on what you’ve shared here.
