Jewelry Business Manager for Mac Users

Beadia is a Mac OS application designed for the needs of a small handmade jewellery business. I started developing Beadia after looking for a suitable Mac application for managing my wife’s jewellery business. None of the available options we looked at were suitable – they were either Windows-only or just didn’t look like a real Mac application. And they were all very expensive, way out of the price range of a small, one-person business or hobbyist. We wanted something which looked, felt and behaved like a real Mac application, at an affordable price. As a professional software developer I decided the easiest (!) solution was to develop one.

With Beadia you can manage jewellery items, parts inventory, sales venues (galleries, online shops, craft fairs, etc.), sales, customers and suppliers. Everything is linked together, so for each piece you create you know who bought it and where, what it cost to make and where the parts came from. Beadia calculates the value of your pieces for you automatically based on the cost of parts used, with a customized markup percentage. When you sell items the sales tax is calculated for you, and you can even choose different currencies for sales, customers and suppliers. And you can export sales and inventory purchases to QIF files for importing into financial packages such as QuickBooks or iBank – great for those end-of-year taxes!

Beadia is flexible enough to cover not just jewellery, but any art or craft which involves producing items from an inventory of parts. You can even ignore the parts inventory altogether and just record information about pieces.
