My Etsy Story : Murmur Fremo

1. Oh, I’m a crafter from way back. Before the introduction of the internet the only way to market yourself was to set up a table at a seasonal craft shows and/or drag a box of your samples to a shop owner and try to convince them to buy some for their store. I’m a very shy person by nature and I found these events absolutely tortuous, Thank goodness when I discovered Etsy, by chance while trolling the internet in ’08. It was an absolute godsend for me. I was the first of my friends to try it out and I quickly spread the word of its virtues.

2. There are so many things I’ve learned since being on Etsy! Packaging, marketing, social media, SEOs, taxes, pricing, photographing my art, and even how to simplify my artwork to make it more cost-effective. With every sale I learned what worked and didn’t work enabling me to modify my shop into a more cohesive one. I found that many of my initial ideas usually morph into something else, something even better.

3. Don’t wait to open a shop until you have the ‘perfect’ items. Even if you don’t make a sale right off, the feedback (like hearts) you receive is a great confidence booster and helps you know if you are going in the right direction. Have fun!

  1. Love your work! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Thanks for the feature! Good luck to everyone!!

  3. Beautiful watercolors. I am so appreciative of real watercolor artistic ability; in design school my Achilles heel was rendering. Anything. In any medium. Just not my talent at all. So beautiful. You are so good! (I don’t usually like animals dressed as people, but I am in love with the rabbit balancing chocolate chip cookies on his toe. FABulous.) You have a new fan!
