Beginning today, a small percentage of Etsy members will see an additional set of items on the home page. These are items we think you might like, and this is an experiment. We are testing the performance of a few different ways to present members with items of interest.
This set of items will be different for every member, and the items presented will be determined differently for different members. Some members will see items from their favorite shops, some will see items from their suggested shops, some will see items based on their purchases, some will see items based on magic
You will know you are part of this experiment if you see a new set of items on the home page when you sign in, in addition to the existing sections. If you find yourself part of this experiment and spending an unusual amount of time favoriting and purchasing items of intense interest, do not be alarmed. This is normal. Many of us here at Etsy experienced the same thing as we tested this feature.
This process is known as A/B testing. Participants are selected at random. Only signed-in members can be a part of this experiment. As we see what types of personalized modules perform best, we will gradually make them visible to more members.
