Spotlight Feature – DIY Fluffies soft toy patterns by Mariska Vos-Bolman

DIY Fluffies soft toy patterns by Mariska Vos-Bolman
In 2007 I made my first soft toys. I worked in the video game industry and I really needed a change. So I quit my job and started making soft toys for a living.
Which I do part time now, together with being a mom of two boys.
I started making plushes and jewelry that I sell at www.mariskavos.nl. After that I decided to start selling the patterns and kits of my toys. This is easier to combine with being a full time mom. I get many emails from people that enjoy working with my patterns and that is very rewarding.
I get a lot of my inspiration from my kids. My son loves lions, rockets, elephants and now they are all patterns in my shop :)
I love Japan, japanese characters are also very inspiring. They are so cute!
Most of my animals are created with fleece. I love working with fleece. But you can use any fabric to make the fluffels. I always create a cotton prototype first, so that I’m sure it can be created with any fabric. After that I make a pretty fleece one and decide on the final color scheme.
My mom helps me to create the kits. She also creates finished toys for people that can’t or don’t want to make a DIY Fluffies soft toy themselves.
