1. Tell us a bit about your Etsy shop and the items you make.
I am Carrie D’Augustine from Augie by Carrie Custom and Handcrafted Jewelry I specialize in handpainted accessories and other treasures such as designs using mixed media and materials like chain and gemstones. I also make a unique line of steampunk pieces and enjoy making photo jewelry.
2. How long have you sold on Tophatter?
I have bee a member of Tophatter for almost 2 months now.
3. How exciting is to see your products being bid on in a live setting?
It is exciting, at first I found it a little awkward and was almost nervous before my first couple sales.
4. What do you like best about selling on Tophatter?
I like that it is a live setting and another venue for people to see your work and get yourself out there. It definitely is pretty cool. Its also a good way to get feedback and test a different market with some of my products new and old. I am still pretty new and so far the experience has been pretty decent. It has been a great opportunity to also network and meet new people because you are available to answer questions during your auction. It is a way for people to actually get to experience a personal touch to your creations.
It Is much different than someone finding you online asking you a question and anxiously awaiting a response
5. Do you have any tips for Etsy sellers just starting out on Tophatter?
Any tips I could give an Etsy seller is… Be Positive. You never know who is in an auction setting and viewing your work and comments. You are putting yourself out there as a seller and people are getting an impression of you and your work.
Things will be up and down. What sells one day may not sell the next day. Do not give up. Your customer just may not be in the auction at that time. it has been a good learning experience.
Just like any business things happen.Tophatter is a new site and still developing. They are working on ways to improve the buyer and seller experience. The staff is pretty great and when a hiccup happens everyone seems pretty helpful and works on a resolution pretty quickly.
6. Any other info you want to add
I currently like to explore new ideas and mediums and love to try create outside the box. I also love to do custom work so I always welcome to hear from my customers.
I have a website that I am currently revamping
