One of the great things about Etsy is its community atmosphere. It’s unlike any other website I have been a registered member of.

Those of us in the art and handmade business are bound to feel inadequate from time to time. Or, to be more accurate, a lot of the time.

No matter what you sell, whether it be paintings, soap, or jewelry, it is important to describe the benefit of your product along with the features of that product.

A common dilemma is what to do with your Etsy shop during that time, and whether or not it makes sense to put it in vacation mode.

Those of us who sell online have an at-home job. Even those who have day jobs (like me) come home to their at-home job in the evening. There are many benefits to working at home.

I made the mistake of waiting until January (tax time) to sum up all of my totals. After ringing up all of my supply receipts, totaling my Etsy and PayPal fees, alongside with my booth fees for craft fairs, etc. the conclusion became clear: my business expenses were near DOUBLE what I grossed in sales. I shouldn’t have been shocked, but I was.
